THE TOP 10 BEST SELLING CARS IN THE UK 2023:

The Ford Puma has kept hold if its place at the top of the sales charts for the second month running, followed closely by the Vauxhall Corsa. There are a few new entrants into the top 10 in November, including a reappearance for the Nissan Qashqai for the first time since September.

1. Ford Puma

ford-puma.png?auto=format&cs=tinysrgb&fit=clip&ixlib=rb-1.1.0&q=60&w=750
  • Number sold: 4,298
  • Unique selling point: sporty driving experience
  • Wowscore: 7/10
  • Average carwow saving: £2,164*

The Ford Puma has retained its crown as the most popular car of the month, with 4,298 of these sporty crossovers finding homes in the UK. That’s a couple of hundred less than last month. Not many small SUVs are as fun to drive as the Puma, and few are as well-equipped either.

It doesn’t give you the commanding driving position of other SUVs in this class, and the back seats are a little cramped. On the upside though, the boot is cavernous and really versatile thanks to a huge storage compartment under the floor.

2. Vauxhall Corsa

  • Number sold: 4,185
  • Unique selling point: Generous standard equipment
  • Wowscore: 7/10
  • Average carwow saving: £4,885*

The Vauxhall Corsa takes second place in the sales charts for November, having come third the previous month. 4,185 people were tempted by the Corsa’s generous standard equipment and efficient engines, over 700 more than in October.

It doesn’t have the biggest boot in this class, nor does it have the most rear legroom. However it’s comfortable, well-equipped and offers great value for money,

3. Nissan Qashqai

  • Number sold: 4,116
  • Unique selling point: Practical cabin
  • Wowscore: 8/10
  • Average carwow saving: £3,965*

November sees the return of the Nissan Qashqai, with 4,114 people snapping up this ever-popular SUV. The Qashqai offers a solid, practical interior, and it’s comfortable to drive as well.

It doesn’t have the biggest boot in this class, nor does it have the best infotainment system, but it has more than enough standard equipment to make up for these shortcomings.

4. Mini 3-Door Hatch

  • Number sold: 3,528
  • Unique selling point: Endless customisation options
  • Wowscore: 8/10
  • Average carwow saving: £1,100*

Few cars are as instantly recognisable as the Mini, and this familiarity proved popular with 3,528 people in November. There are plenty of ways you can customise your Mini both inside and out, with loads of different colour combinations and graphics to choose from.

The titchy boot and cramped rear seats mean there are more practical small cars out there, but those int he front seats of the Mini will appreciate the high build quality and the driver will love hoe much fun it is on a twisty road.

5. Ford Kuga

  • Number sold: 3,202
  • Unique selling point: Fun to drive for an SUV
  • Wowscore: 7/10
  • Average carwow saving: £2,712*

Rising a few places in November’s sales charts is the Ford Kuga, with 3,202 people choosing this sporty SUV over something like a Nissan Qashqai or Hyundai Tucson. If your ideal car has the driving experience of a hot hatch, with the high-riding driving position of an SUV, the Kuga strikes a good balance between the two.

Interior quality isn’t the best in this class, and it has a pretty small boot for an SUV, but it’s well-priced and generously equipped. The plug-in hybrid models get decent all-electric range as well, managing 35 miles.

6. Kia Sportage

  • Number sold: 3,045
  • Unique selling point: Seven-year warranty
  • Wowscore: 8/10
  • Average carwow saving: £2,600*

There were 3,045 new Kia Sportage’s registered in November, making it the 6th most popular new car. The Sportage is a great choice for families thanks to its massive boot, practical cabin and standard safety features.

That front end does divide opinions, but you certainly can’t call it boring. The hybrids are also smooth and economical, and the cabin is a nice place to spend time as well. To sweeten the deal, all Kias come with an impressive seven-year warranty.

7. Vauxhall Mokka

  • Number sold: 2,917
  • Unique selling point: Super stylish exterior
  • Wowscore: 7/10
  • Average carwow saving: £5,979*

Replacing the Peugeot 2008 at number seven is the mechanically-similar Vauxhall Mokka, with 2,917 people choosing this funky-looking small SUV. The Mokka is also well-equipped and comfortable to drive.

It’s not the most practical small SUV out there, with a relatively small boot and cramped rear seats, but the front seats are spacious and it’s well-made as well.

8. MG HS

MGHS003-1-scaled-e1702309419601.jpg?auto=format&cs=tinysrgb&fit=clip&ixlib=rb-1.1.0&q=60&w=750
  • Number sold: 2,732
  • Unique selling point: Great value for money
  • Wowscore: 5/10
  • Average carwow saving: £2,461*

Taking 8th place for November is the MG HS. There are very few SUVs out there which offer this much space and tech for such a small price, and this was enough to tempt 2,732 people into adding one to their driveway.

It’s not the most refined car out there, with a jerky automatic gearbox and a noisy engine under the bonnet, but it’s pretty economical and the interior looks good.

9. Volkswagen Golf

  • Number sold: 2,733
  • Unique selling point: Great all-rounder
  • Wowscore: 8/10
  • Average carwow saving: £1,779*

The Volkswagen Golf has managed to sneak into the top 10 for November, with the German brand shifting 2,733 of these hatchbacks. The Golf is as practical as ever, with plenty of interior space and a big boot.

It’s not the most exciting choice, and the infotainment system is a bit fiddly, but the Golf is properly comfortable and it’s packed with tech.

10. Audi A3

audi-a3-front-4.png?auto=format&cs=tinysrgb&fit=clip&ixlib=rb-1.1.0&q=60&w=750
  • Number sold: 2,726
  • Unique selling point: High-quality interior
  • Wowscore: 7/10
  • Average carwow saving: £1,345

Sneaking in at number 10 is the Audi A3, with 2,726 people deciding to add some German quality to their daily commute. The materials used wouldn’t look or feel out of place in a posh saloon car, and it comes well-equipped as standard.

It may be a bit more expensive than something like a Volkswagen Golf, however the striking design and premium image makes it worthwhile splashing the extra cash.
